Posts: 1000 | Does that count as fishing? It would be nice to be able to follow their movements through the change of seasons, starting from the beginning. That and my panfish rig feels like a fairy wand right now...

Just like dragging a sucker around without hooks is still fishing...and there are guys/gals out there that fish suckers in this manner. So yes, I would imagine you would still be breaking the law. Time for some scuba gear!

Posts: 553 Location: deephaven mn | I do believe the season is set up as not to bother the fish during their spawning process. And by doing this it gives fish a chance to reproduce and create a better fishery so you as an angler will benefit.

Stopped us three times last year... upset why my husband after ran truck plates DID have lisence just under marriage deal lol! Stopped us snowmobiling and grouse hunting BUSY guy.... oh and checked to see if baiting deer. No tickets and never ticked him off and we are legal....but he checks everyone for anything and never warns only tickets. BTW talking St. Louis Co yes Vermilion should be jurisdiction.

Posts: 122 | Never seen him IN a boat so pretty safe... likes running around in the truck. Vermilion guys are pretty nice that ran into on the water. Never had any issues.

Posts: 20219 Location: oswego, il | Been stopped a few times on vermillion, most of the time nice. Did get a 100 dollar ticket for being one life vest short, just plain forgot to put it in the boat that evening. No sense of humor with those guys, they said they heard muskies were good smoked and did not laugh when I said they were too hard to keep lit. Asked if anyone was keeping bass and they passed every boat on the way to my resort to do a cabin to cabin search. Then they just stayed at the bar untill midnight.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Best bet is to call the DNR. I call mine with any DNR Qs and they appreciate it. This is all for deer hunting and other gun related issues but I am sure they are just as good with fishing Qs I like knowing my DNR agents in my area. Helps when they know you are active in knowing the regulations and call them first with any Qs. JMO

Posts: 20219 Location: oswego, il | Yep, I went straight back to the cabin to get another life vest, I had my small boat at the time, they beat me by at least 10 minutes and they were already in someone's cabin. They past every boat they would have checked to get there. They asked me if anyone was keeping bass, I said yes and that was it. They looked alarmed and made a beeline.
