| I recently bought this used boat and was wondering if anyone knows the actual size of the gas tank (without me running it dry and filling it up til it overflows)?
The guy said it was 20 gal. I found a website that says 22 gal but my buddy who has a 2002 version of the boat says his is 11.
Also, does anyone have an estimate of the MPG I can expect with a 50hp mercury 4-stroke on this boat?

Location: MN | MPG is very dependent on how you drive your boat. Are you running at a cruising speed for a long time or do you run nad gun, with a lot of take offs and wide open throttle? Essentially, you will need to calculate it yourself (Full tank>>run the motor and log mileage and driving behavior>>fill the tank again and find fuel used) |

Location: Mayville, WI | Here's a link for a 2009 performance report for a 50hp Mercury on an Alumacraft Classic. The Classic is the what the old Navigator became when they made the Navigator bigger (82 to 91" beam) in the mid 2000's. I know it's a bit newer than your rig, but it should see very similar results.

The Navigator series before 2005 had a beam of 82" and a 17 gallon tank. That model is still available today, but with a different name called the "Classic 165". The boat has remained basically unchanged for the most part.
One thing I have noticed on my navigator (2005) is I will never fully trust the fuel gauge. It gives me a general idea of where I am at for fuel, but when it hits E and doesn't move up when I throttle up and the bow rises, I know I am getting fairly low....but I always seem to find I'm 3 - 4 gallons below a full tank of 23 (my tank). When I first filled it new, it took all 23 gallons. But...I have never run it down to that point.
That might explain why your buddy may only see 11 gallons go in....

Location: Eastern Ontario | I have a 2004 Alumacraft Magnum 165 CS which specs say has a 22 US gal tank and I have no confidence in fuel gauge easier to keep top half full. |

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | I had a 6hp on the rear of my old Alumacraft Lunker 165, which was about 7 inches narrower in the rear.

| Thanks for the information guys. Still no consensus on the gas tank size so it sounds like I will just have to run it dry and fill her all the way up to know for sure unfortunately.
That was an informative link about the mercury 4-stroke test. Hopefully I can see similar results. I know the RPMs seem to max at about 5000 on mine and the boat is going about 27mph (with 2 people, gear, and mostly full gas tank). |
