I pulled the boat out of storage and washed it up! Thinking of further cleaning the exterior, possibly waxing and was curious what people use...

Is it worth the effort to rub wax on and buff it or do you guys tend to use a spray wax and wipe off/buff by hand?

Thanks for your input!

I have an aluminum boat, not fiberglass if that matters...

well i have a 1988 SEA NYMPH FM164 aluminum tiller and have never waxed it. its paint and vinyl above the splash rails. i just wipe all the water and scum line off at the ramp when i pull it out and it looks great! i use it over 600 hrs per yr.

Waxing an aluminum boat that has base metel?? Or waxing an aluminum boat that is painted and has a clear coat over the paint.

The boat is a Smokercraft and is painted along with decaling from the manufacturer. I was thinking of doing my typical spring cleaning with "Scrubbing Bubbles" or a shower cleaner to get rid or help remove any water marks and grime but was curious would a decent wax applied help keep the boat cleaner throughout the year preventing these water marks and help protect the exterior from minor dock rash marks or anything.

As for waxing something that is metal at its base... Come on guys, think... Your car has a metal base and is painted over and those should be waxed... I dont understand what you are questioning with that comment.

Put it good coat of wax on her. Makes it easy to wipe her down and clean her up when you pul her out of the water.l

If you plan on using the vinegar water mix keep in mind that it will get rid of water spots very nicely, but it will also take the wax back off too... I had a black wakeboard boat that would get waterspotted bad vinegar water mix was the only way to get the waterspots off but it was never that super slick surface again after the vinegar did its job

for what its worth I wax my boat 1-2 times a year and wipe it down good everytime i leave the launch my ranger is black but the glass flake really hides stuff so i dont use the vinegar anymore

I would only wax above the waterline. Waxing the hull below the waterline actually increases drag and slows the boat down.
