Location: Freedom, WI | So I'm looking for a Pacemaker and I've heard that the old wood ones are better than the newer plastic ones and I've found the wood ones online here

Does anyone know if these are just like the old ones? And should I get this over a plastic one? |

Location: S.W. WI | I like the plastic ones better. The woodies ride higher and the plastics sit tail down a little. I think the plastics sound better too (a little deeper sound IMO) I crossed paths w/ Mr. Sennett one evening on The Chip and noticed his pacemaker looked and sounded awesome. I figured it must be the new plastic style, so I bought one the next day.
It also helped that I threw the woodies for years with no success, and got immediate success with the plastic one. That made it easy for me to have a fav.
I just throw the Lg. plastic, haven't tried the sm. plastic one.

| This is a funny question. Some people swear by the wood ones, some people swear by the plastic ones. In talking to people, I have come to the conclusion that in some lakes the muskies like the wood, and in others they like the plastic. They DO sound different. Never had a sniff on the plastic...but they are all over the wood ones where i fish.
Makes no sense, but it is what it is. Can't explain it, not gonna worry about it, just gonna keep buying and chucking the wood ones. Every so often I'll use the plastic in the future when i know the fish are active...just to see if they have changed their minds...  |

Location: Freedom, WI | Thank you all for your input. I'm thinking more about it but I think I may still get a wood one. A guy that used to guide on and still heavily fishes the lake I mainly fish on prefers the wood ones so I'm going to guess that what works for my lake. Hopefully in the future I'm able to get both though.
Any other input is much appreciated. |

| I use both and found the wood to work better ... in fact the older with hook rash and more water logged the better. |

Location: Sawyer County, WI | I've had success with both plastic and wood models. That said, the best one I've had is a black, small wood model. I've gotten quite a few fish on that one and though it's pretty chewed up it still has the mojo. |

I think its attached with a screw eye like in the picture before you select a color. I don't know why it goes away when you select a color. It had me a bit confused too.

| It is a screw eye. I don't know about the "old ones", but the wood ones I have since 2007 all have the middle hook attached via a screw eye. If that answers the question... |

It is a screw eye. I don't know about the "old ones", but the wood ones I have since 2007 all have the middle hook attached via a screw eye. If that answers the question... Thanks. I know the front hook is attached to the thru-wire so even though it looks like a screw eye, I wasn't totally convinced for some reason. I have always thrown Awakers and Top Raiders. |
