Sorry, no Fox Chain this year. We were unable to get it to fit into the schedule this year. But I hope you can make one of our other events this year. And we might be back next year.

I've only had great experiences at the ironman tournaments. This is the only tournament I've been to where everyone receives a free door prize(usually a lure) and will possibly get free food and brews at the rules meeting. And you get to use suckers, which I think is awesome but I know a lot of guys don't indulge in the sucker bite. I would encourage everyone to check them out.

I've also had a fine time at these events and ate plenty of the free food too.

Have been doing Ironman's since they started. Although the weather can sometimes be brutal due to the time of year, always a great experience. No complaints here.

Lot of good fisherman fish these events, I have fortunately been involved in a few if we can make them. Door prizes at the rules meetings, chances to win Tooth Tamer rods, lures, musky prints on raffles! that the proceeds go to some benefits. Food and Bubblies (free) at the meetings, laid back event, and a chance to win 10K for a 50"er , no complaints here, like anything else, nothing is perfect, and you cant always make everyone happy, Just another way to spend a day on the water with a good friend, or family member. Wish more fisherman would give it a try.

FWIW:

The conception of the Ironman may likely have been before your experience with the current incarnation. Some years ago Pat's Pro Shop in Oconomowoc started a small tourney on Okauchee Lake that took place the first Saturday in November. The one year we launched from Breezy Point and it was so cold that as trailers pulled out it froze on the road until you couldn't even get back up to park from the launch area.

That was the year my son and I made money and have been the only team to cash a check by catching a fish on an artificial lure (in that incarnations history). It was also the year that the event was named "The Ironman".

Pat eventually sold the shop and the new owners did not continue the tournament tradition. A few years later the event was apparently "missed" and some hardy souls resurrected the name and continued the tradition into the tail end of the year, honoring it's inception and fulfilling the dream of a continuing venue.

That said, the current event is always well run, a bunch of good guys fishing and a badge of honor for those willing to brave the elements. I've fished a couple since the Pat's days but may be visiting that more often.......

Don't misunderstand V18, not pickin' a fight or stirring the pot. Just recounting a bit of little known history.........

Okay, so how does one go about registering for an event? I don't see any registration forms online to fill out and send in. Or is it a pay at registration the day prior?

Price last year was $225 per team/boat (2 person max per boat). Unless things have changed, registration can be done at the registration/rules meeting the night before the tournament.

Entry into the events is $225 per boat. And you sign up at the rules meeting.

How many teams generally fish the Pewaukee event?

It veries. Because we take sign ups at the rules meeting. If the weather looks bad, the enteries are lower but if it looks good they are up.

I seem to remember the teens to low 20's for boats on the Ironman for the last 2 years or so.

I'm quite sure that the WMT/Pro-Mac not being around this year will lift the numbers for the Ironman and others. I guess I'd really be surprised to see less than 40 boats at a Pewaukee event and not be surprised to see 55.

Big numbers are better. How many folks reading this now are planning on fishing the Pewaukee IMTT event?

The more boats the better. A few years back we had 55 boats and 45 fish caught. That was a awesome day. Be nice to have that again. Plus everyone that fish our events gets a door prize and food.

Which Pewaukee IMTT event? There are 3 this year. I plan on doing most if not all of them.

The Ironman is a fun tournament to fish. Really good fisherman, and good guys.

The fisherman really need to up on their game with casting, trolling and live baits as options to catch fish. It really offers advantages to the strong sides of each angler.

I fished 2 ironman tourneys in the past, and boated 6 musky. Unfortunitly none were over 33". My bad!!!

Hopefully I can get off from work to fish 1 or 2 of these.

We're probably in at least a couple of them on Pewaukee. Still waiting for the 1st 50"r it would be nice to catch it on one of those tournament day's.

I fish Pewaukee pretty much (at least once a week except the 6 weeks when the water's too hot) and I hear and see a lot. It's truly a "numbers" water and may produce the most fish caught in the state. But, (and I think the other local musky guys will agree) I'd say the "LEGIT" 411 on this water is maybe 3-4 fifties per year. If you really want a chance at one, I'd suggest reading Tom Gelb's book, and then reading it again!
