Trying to get a little more speed out of my 9.9 pro kicker. Has anyone tried a 10 or 11 pitch prop on theirs and what were the results? I am currently running the stock 10x7 that came with the motor and am trying to push around a 620. Currently 5 mph requires the kicker to be pretty wound up... I see Solas makes a 9 1/4 x10 and a 9 1/4x11 in both 3 and 4 blades. Thanks in advance.

I do not think you will get any more real speed out of that motor, its a 10hp motor on a big heavy boat. By switching props it will increase the load on the motor and you will not get the RPM from the motor, so you may lose some speed, maybe or maybe not.

If you want more speed and your transom can handle it, drop a 20hp on it.

Remember asking for 1 more MPH is 20% increase, that's a lot. I have never dealt with a 620 with a 9.9 so I could be wrong here.

At one time 9.9s and 15's were essentially the same motor could that motor be rechiped or recarbed or otherwise converted to a 15. This was possible at one time.

Let me rephrase this. "Same speed at lower rpm's". Not lookin' to go 10mph. Pro kicker at 5mph is pretty loud. Don't have a problem using the v'rod to troll fast, just trying to get where I could use the kicker more for the 4 to 6mph days.

Just lookin to see if anyone has tried this before making a $100 experiment...

I asked my dealer the same question. They told me not to go to a three blade however, they really didn't have an answer for the four blade. I can't imagine why a different pitch wouldn't help, I just wonder how much thrust you would lose. I'd be interested in knowing this myself.

I did it on my ProKicker on my 1890 Tuffy. Ran a 9? pitch 3 blade, and got the same speed at lower RPM. Did this in fall for muskies. When I used the kicker for walleyes, I put the stock prop back on.
