Living in England we still have soft water at the moment. I ordered a 3D from Thornes and it arrived, just in the nick of time, about 20 minutes before I headed off for a two day fishing trip. I just had time to run to the basemant and swap the hooks for Eagle Claw 4X 3/0 hooks to replace the mustads, which I don't like, before we left.

We spent quite a while fishing spots with all sorts of baits and lures without success and eventiually found some fish in a rather odd part of the lake. They seemed to be around 15ft down in water that was 60-20ft deep according to the sounder. My friend, the local, was casting all sorts of rubber baits, bulldawgs etc, which are normally the business, and I decided to try out the 3D. I could see him look at me out of the corner of his eye thinking I was mad putting a crankbait on. Anyway, It worked a treat! I could crank it down to 10ft or so and twitch it quite violently then let it hang. The Eagle Claws seemed to balence it perfectly and I couldn't tell if it was rising or sinking with the leader I was using as it appeared to be absolutely still. To end the story I outfished him on the first day as he could hardly get a take on other baits. On the second day of our trip the fish had moved up into shallower water and a jerko was the winning bait for them there.

I can see my, rather scratched, 3D getting a fair bit of use this summer where the fish are up in the water over some reasonable depth as it is the only lure I have which will give you an erratic jerkbait action 10ft down.

Hey Tim, glad to here you had some luck using the Triple D. We had a blast field testing this lure all fall up here in No. Wisconsin. I can't wait to use it all season! God bless.

Congratulations Tim!

Glad you found a niche for the TripleD. That is the zone that I've also found the TripleD to excel at. Kinda cool to know it works in Europe too! I'm sure the boys at ERC will be just as excited to hear the news.

Glad to hear another testimonial for the 3D.

However, all the continued talk about its success is getting me antsy to get my new 3Ds wet. At this point, I can only dream about the situations and conditions under which one could work a 3D.

Will definitely seek out Matt Gawlik @ the MN show to talk about the 3D some more.

Tim,

Just got back from a show in Green Bay. Had a bunch of emails from friends telling me to go to MFirst cause the Trip D scored in Europe. THAT IS AWESOME!!! and congrats!

Definitely would like to get you a hat/shirt and a few lures for being the first to score in Europe (I think). Please send address (and picture if possible) to [email protected]. or give me a call at 1-800-783-0718.

Seriously...thanks for the kind words and the update.

That kind of stuff makes it all worth it.

Congrats on the "First to Score " in Europe Tim. Many more scores to you.
Muskiekid, if your wife was triple D you would have to wear a cycle helment to bed or they would crush your skull. haha

Good point. It would also be really cold under those covers at night because they would be lifted in the air. Tom
