I decided to wait a year to see what kind of feedback came in on this reel. After talking with numerous users, watching the forums, and discussions with repair techs I just purchased two.

I realize I am digging this post out from the grave.. Just doing some searching on reels and noticed that back in 06-08 most sites, including this forum had nothing but good things to say about the record. I've noticed that a lot of the more recent threads have mixed reviews with many people saying they don't hold up.. So which is it? I just ordered an RCN6600HC with 4.7:1 gear ratio and included power handle. Am I going to be happy or not? I have a C4 and have been happy with it, but need something with a lower gear ratio for pulling in heavier lures.. Thought this would be an easy transition as all the parts (thumb bar free spool, drag, clicker, etc) are essentially the same and wouldn't feel awkward swapping back and forth. Kind of a done deal now, but is this reel as bad as some people say now or is it as good as people said it was when they were first reintroduced like this thread says. Thanks for the input.

You will like the reel. Have 2 and never had a problem with either. Use my revo's more now but the record is a step up from a c4

Good reel.
Very easy to service and parts are dirt cheap if you need to replace some.
