I was not aware that he could tie his creature set up to a chair and set the hook and make the chair flip over from his hook set.It made a really nice sound to the ear also.Great Job steve saturday morning!!

Only one hook on those things, one needs to be sure to make the hookset count!

what type of rod are you using? can you give us any tips on a good hookset?
I just try to rip der fricken lips off.

Actually, I used the chair as a stage prop during seminars 20 years ago. I would take a kitchen chair, tie my 17# Trilene to the leg, set the hook, and tip the chair over. The idea is to hold the rod at the balance point ahead of the reel, and use your wrist to set the hook, not your arms. The buildup of energy in the rod makes it whistle, which is what E was referring to. POP!!

Shag taught me how to do that. He was a gem, that man. Anyone else ever see Shag Shahid (sp?) work a rod and reel? He was a master! he had the biggest wrists and hands I think I have ever seen on an average sized guy, and could make a casting plug do most anything.
