Back when I was in my teens, I remember reading an article in a local Pittsburgh news paper. I believe it was the Post Gazette. It was about a dead Muskie found dead on the bank of the Monongahela river. It had a duck stuck in its gills. The body was too decomposed to get a weight, but a local sporting goods store owner and a member of the PA Fish Commission witnessed it being measured.

I've often thought of that article, and even searched google for it, but never could come up with anything. Last night, I decided to do another google search for it, and to my suprise, I found an article. It was from the Beaver County Times (which is odd because I never had access to the newspaper growing up). It was dated September 21st, 1986.

Unfortunately, the scanned copy of the newspaper page was so small that when I enlarged it, the names of the 2 who witnessed the measurements are too blurry to read. This morning, I tried on my laptop (instead of my phone) to find the article again to try to enlarge it again, and I couldn't even find the article!! Grrrrr!

Anyway, I'm posting this in hopes that somebody might also remember the article. And hopefully, someone more computer literate than me can find the article and post it. Also wondering if Larry Ramsell has heard of this story.

muskie52: Yes I have heard about it and covered it in Volume II of my book. Relying on memory without searching for it, I believe the result was that it was bogus.

I've heard that story from many places too. I even saw one that was mounted with the duck in its mouth. Good thing they kept that one high enough on the wall that you couldn't measure it. It wouldn't have broke 50"
