Posts: 1516 | OK bryantukkah I asked and you told us where you cross w/o ID. Many of us folks in the Midwest cross at IF or Baudette MN It has been my experience is that they want ID (passports) and they run each of them while they ask questions like where are you going and how long are you staying and how much booze are you bringing. I guess that is why it can take as long as a two or three hour what to get across. That and there are rarely more that three lines open at one time. As far as coming back I guess it was the US that said after 9/11 that passports were required as a law abiding citizens of course my group went out and got ours.

Posts: 1202 Location: Money, PA | I just got off the phone with the "passport" people....You CAN enter Canada with just a valid driver's license, however, upon return you will most likely have to go to the embassy (so its the US side who has the requirements)....eventually letting you back into the USA of course, but who wants to go through that? Therefore: One of these 4 items is a REQUIREMENT to get back through the checkpoint normally. - Passport - Passport card - Enhanced dirver's license - Birth certificate (children) Its NO longer 1984 G'Day gentlemen....Its time to go fishing!! Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | Well!!! It maybe that you don't need a passport. But I'll guarantee that if you have one it's better and easier! Why not get one? Doug Johnson
