Posts: 300 | My wife and I have friends that live in Amery, and we would love to visit them, and fish while we are there. Looking for a place to stay, as well as some suggestions on lakes in that area to fish. We are looking for lakes that will provide a little more action, than just chasing big fish. Any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated. Eric

Posts: 72 | Deer Lake has great action and is about 15 mins from Amery. There are some big ones but the average size is 38" to 43" and we have had many multiple fish days. The apple river can be hit or miss and is really weedy but decent numbers of 30"-35" fish. Not sure where Bone Lake is at recently, but that used to be my favorite lake in the area. Tons of structure, rocks weeds, humps, islands. Caught a lot of fish there casting and trolling. Used to see 20-30 fish in a day. I have read the spearing has taken a toll there but know people are still catching fish there, personally I haven't been there in a couple years. Send me a PM if you want more info on specifics.

Posts: 3 | I'd say Deer, Apple, and Bone are your three best. I know bone has been speared but it keeps putting up good numbers. Not like it used to be but they are there. If you need any pointers let me know, I used to fish those waters in Amery 7 days a week. Its funny I move back to Indiana and go to a boat show. Wisconsin booth had Polk county literature. There was a picture of my boat and I in there fishing. Kinda funny.

Posts: 580 | For action, Deer Lake will be your best bet. For better average size, Wapo. There is a decent population along with some nice fish in the Apple River Flowage, but its tough mid-summer as the lake becomes essentially one huge weed flat and the fish are quite spread out.

Posts: 300 | Hey guys, looks like I'll have to look into fishing Deer. I figured with the water being as clear as it is, those fish would be a little tougher. I guess now I will just have to find accommodations.
