Breaking down this year to buy my only fishing gear - a new reel -
Which one of the se Calcutta's and Why?

I like the size of my Abu 5500/5600's...6500 is nice, just feels too big at times.....

Thanks

I would say get the 400. What I don't like about the 250 is that the levelwind disengages on the cast causing bad line angles when casting and uneven sppoling. The 400 does not. I have a 400 and love it. The only reels the size of the 250 that do that are the garcia C3, C4, C5 but not the morrum.

I got 3 400's and 1 250. I really like the 250. For about 15 bucks you can put 6.2:1 gears in it for more speed and a dartanium drag for $6. Like Todd said, no level out on dissengagement, but it does have a narrow spool. I got that reel on an All-Star rod, the lightest, fastest combo that I have ever owned. Calcuttas are great reels but they are not perfect. They have anti-reverse issues and dissengagement spring springs that get weak over time. Still, the Super Stopper anti reverse bearing is an engineering marvel and whoever designed it probably got one heck of a bonus.
I deal with www.southwesternparts.com. They have online schematics for almost any reel on the market........................................RAZE
