| I dip and let the bait sit in thinned spar varnish for a couple min. and hang dry it. Then before painting I sand with 150 grit for some grabbing power, and a clear coat of rotisserie set two part epoxy (like etex) is the smoothest surface to paint on in my opinion. |

Location: Muskegon Michigan | I use ZAR SANDING sealer on all woods. It is the best all around one step sealer I have ever used. On Oak I have to dip the lure twice but this stuff gets in there and does a great job. Can be thinned with regular mineral spirits when it gets too thick. Great stuff. Mike

| I use a coat of epoxy on my large lures and give my smaller lures a dip in SPAR.

Location: Almost Heaven | How about drywall mud?? I redid a well known jerk bait that I peeled the original paint off of and I can tell you the base looked and sanded just like mud. Go figure.
