Posts: 24 | I know that this lake gets a lot of pressure in shallow weeds but has anyone had any luck fishing the basin or deep suspended muskies? If so, what lures work best and what presentations?

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | I have never fished it, but, have fished lakes with similar features. The bigger fish in most systems seem to use the deeper water more. Fishing relatively fast breaks to 20' is advisable. There are some obvious spots on the WI DNR map, they probably get wacked regularly. Pay attention to shore line features and bottom content around the lake, docks associated to adjacent deeper water can be productive. http://dnr.wi.gov/lakes/lakepages/LakeDetail.aspx?wbic=716800 My main advice - Use the search feature here first - it will save you lots of time as most popular lakes have also been discussed in the past. You can glean a lot of insight from these threads if you read carefully. http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=49... http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/search/query.asp?fid=0&action... Posts: 566 Location: WI | Fished the opener on Kentuck a few years back during a warm spring and got 3 in 15-20ft of water. Just worked the deeper water on the south end back and forth and weeds were growing down to 20 ft. Went back last year in July and the water was much more dirty and significantly less deep weed growth. Not sure if that was a time of the year thing or if the lake just changed. Managed one working a deep weedline at 12ft. Definitely a lot more pressure on the shallow fish from the 2x I was out there.

Posts: 24 | Yeah the past couple of years the algea bloom has taken over starting mid june and lasts thru august. It is comparable to that of winnebago. Thanks for the tip on fishing deep water early in the year in that area, ill have to look for weeds in that area.

Posts: 43 | if you check out the national musky championship you will see that lake gets pounded and the woman that won last year boated her fish on that lake using a hardhead. family use to have a cottage on it there are some very large musky in that lake. if you get on that lake be careful on the south shore near the point very large boulders just under the surface they like to eat lower units.

Posts: 24 | Yeah the lake is a zoo for that tournament i tend to stay off the lake that weekend. The boulders by the point are the size of small cars, in the spring you can see them very well and some idiot last spring drove right thru them and wrecked his lower unit.
