Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | I have a catahoula and she is awesome with the kids ages 16,12,6, and 20 months. Very protective of kids but friendly with everyone. Great in boat or ice fishing. Only faulyt is she does not mix with other animals.

Posts: 1438 | Sorry to hear about your dog. I've been there... it's never easy. But, you gave him a lotta love and a good healthy home. I can only assume you KNEW he was happy. Sucks that they don't live as long as we do... Grew up with Goldens. When I was on my own I got my first Lab. Wouldn't have anything else. Every one I've had was smarter than a whip. Don't believe the naysayers. My first two made it 13 years each and had to be put down 1 1/2 years apart. We waited about a year and a half for our 3rd, Rooster now 7 years old. In may I happened to see a picture of a blind yellow Lab, at the shelter, in the local paper. Something just said it was right. We picked him, Tucker, up a couple weeks later and couldn't be happier. Found out Tucker's birthday is 15 days before Rooster's. Hair, although I hate it, is just part of the package. Mine have all been inside dogs and we haven't had any "stink" problems... except for the occasional air biscuit. Was very happy a couple weeks ago when a good friend was over and said that our house was the only "dog" house he's been to that didn't smell like dog. And that's with 180 pounds of lab in the house. Any dog can be a boat dog. Follow your heart.

Posts: 17 | I love all the great stories and pictures of all the boat partners!!! they are a huge part of our lives. I lost my great gal, a black lab named Bogie last year and often think about her. At least she was able to spend her final years up in Oneida County living the northwoods life.

Posts: 358 | Corso Mike I have four dogs and wouldn't be without a one of them ! Life is too short and especially for them. They bring alot of enjoyment, love and good company for us. Living pretty much off grid when I'm gone they are good protection also for my family. Puppies are hard to not bring home
