Posts: 99 Location: West Virginia | On another post some guys are talking about Mylies Place in Morson. I am curious about water clarity, depth and weeds in that area as compared to Kenora. How is the boat traffic? Planning on returning to LOTW for a second time (Kenora 1st time) and not sure about what part of he lake to hit. Any info is appreciated.

Posts: 151 Location: Chippewa Falls, WI | too dark to fish, way too many weeds, and boats on every spot! Just kidding, I fished out of mylies the first week of aug this year and the water was fine to see follows easily, we didn't find hardly any weeds but we didn't need too (they were plenty of fish holding on the rocks and as for boat traffic there was some but there are so many good spots on LOTW we never thought it was a problem. I've talked to a few guys out of the NW angle and kenora and of course morson and most agree that the angle has the most fish per acre or told me to plan on seeing more fish up there vs SAB…I'm already booked to go back the first week of August to stay at Mylies and I plan on making it an annual trip for a good long time! Last year was our first year up there since '96. There was 3 of us in a boat and we landed 12 for the week, 49" was the biggest, and had a low 50's literally jump out of the net after landing it. Our total should have been way higher but I had a week from you know where! I lost 5 fish (including the low 50's jumping outta the net) and only landed one. We had hooks in closer to 20... We raised over 90 fish and boated multiple fish every day except for one. This all considering we are not the best sticks by a long shot. My father is a good musky angler but my brother and I are really just getting into as adults now. We fished 5 days and pulled out a day early with big winds in the forecast. I haven't fished the angle or kenora but if it's significantly better fishing than Sab I'm not sure I could handle it ![]() Adubs

Posts: 270 Location: brooklyn park mn | I would suggest looking into tamarack lodge up by morson. Secluded on island, great hosts. Ive been to canada over 20 trips for week and theyll treat you like family and for me its home away from home now. Ive fished kenora and it was fun, morson by redwing lodge has good fish population but has pressure too. Area by tamarack lodge water clarity wasnt too bad. Could see baits fairly well. Found fish in shallow rocks, timber and weedbeds. Also found fish on reefs that topped out around 5 to 8 feet too. I go in july. Location is key as I found biggest muskie of week within eyesite of camp. Fish seemed bigger on average than other areas ive fished on lake of woods. I dont like the angle as much anymore and did better out of morson up in miles bay area down to tamarack lodge area. With the musky schools that go up to angle and everyone knowing everyspot It just seems like I see a boat everywhere I look or those secret spots I had are no longer so secret lol. Good area tho. .pm me if any questions

Posts: 52 | Thanks for the kind words muskyjim. The water clarity near us is usually stained, after a big west wind it can get a little murky. Average depth is around 20 feet deep a lot shallower than the Kenora area which probably averages 40 to 60 feet deep. We still have some weed beds although not as many as before. Boat traffic is slowly increasing but nothing like other areas of the lake, we don't get the crowds that Kenora, Sioux Narrows, Nester Falls and the Angle get. I would say that May, June, Aug, Sept and Oct our customers would see less than 8 boats a day. In July that probably jumps to 15 or 20. We are one camp in the Morson area, my colleagues have great camps too, ask questions and find one that suits your needs the most. Good luck and tight lines to you.
