I just got a new St Croix 8 ft 3 to 8 oz rod. I plan to go to Chicago Musky Show next week to buy a new reel. I have several 6500C3 and one 6500C4. I like it but I want to buy a new reel that able do good job on heavy lures between 3 to 6 oz. for my new 8 ft rod. I don't like large reel like 7000 because my hands is small. I am looking for between 150 and 200 dollars. Daiwa? St Croix reel? Shimano? Thanks!

Daiwa salstist 20 is sweet, but a little over 200. Shimano makes some nice reels for under 200, but I dont recommend the corvalas for muskie baits. Salstist take a little getting used to for casting, but its my go to reel.

You could get a Daiwa Lexa 300 for two bills or find a deal on a Revo or a 300EJ.

you can find revo toro 50/60s for good deals both on here and on ebay. Same with shimano curados, it if it were me and you wanted to go with a smaller reel i'd vote for a curado E or EJ

For 150-200$....

NACL used (maybe 225?), Used Revo, Used Calcutta B, Daiwa Lexa 300 or 400. Check Ebay, Lexa 400 is $195.

I got a new NaCl from Hoffman Cabelas for $239.00. I just asked the guy in the fishing dept if he could do any better on the price since Dicks was having a 25% off deal on $100 or more purchases at the time. Told him I would mention how great he was when I did the online survey. I got the discount and he got a great review. Seemed to work out for the both of us.

If your from the north and have time don't settle for something right now. I have small hands and love the Revo. I prefer the 50's to the 60's... you can find one in your price range used. They are very nice reels.

Take a good look at the Okuma Isis 400. Not a real well known brand in the musky world, but a very popular saltwater manufacturer. I've heard nothing bad about the Isis 400 series. Priced right at $200 & have seen them under $150 on EBAY.

IL- Jump on the Calcutta from Jeff78. Great reel and a great price. If it were a lefty it would already be mine. Can't beat a shimano!!

Revo Toro HS, they are a low profile baitcaster. Cabelas has them on sale for $199 and they have a $20 off internet coupon. I picked one up last week for $180 new

Haven't tried an Okuma reel myself yet but they're supposedly the largest spinning reel manufacturer in the world so their warranties should be solid too.

So far I think to buy Revo Toro 60 and which booth have it in Chicago Musky Show, so I can look at it then probably buy it.
