| Can't believe this weather...take it back!!! Jon Floater flew down here this afternoon to visit relatives about an hour from the house here, and we were supposed to meet for dinner tomorrow evening...now they are calling for freezing rain, sleet, and snow the next 2 days w/ a possible foot or more of this dreaded winter combo.:( Hope they can get the roads cleared enough so we can meet. Been the worst winter weather wise in at least a decade; normal temp. should be 49 or so...after a 3 yr. drought, we need the h2o, but not this weekend! | |||

Posts: 1536 Location: God's Country......USA..... Western Wisconsin | Welcome to our world sponger, hehehehehehe we get that sort of crap all the time. Makes a guy kinda wonder why he lives in such a lousy climate. Wait.....what the..........I think I hear the call of a large, green, slimey fish. Yes folks that's correct, that is exactly why we live here. In this, wonderful land that we refer to as God's Country. Gee sponge wish you were here.

| Wish I was too...at least for the next 3 days! Unfortunately, by Wed., it will be back to the high 40s, and climbing to the 50s by Friday, and hopefully this stuff will be a bad memory. W/out the brain of a paramecium, I'd be a basket case... | |||

| weather.com says 7 degrees and feels like -8 here in SE Michigan(that is NEGATIVE), low tonite to be zero..wonder what the wind chill will be then. First saturday in June seems like an ice age away. I can't even walk the woods looking foe Whitetail sheds..too much snow. | |||

Posts: 4266 | Sponger, come on over here and give me a break. I was called in at 10 AM because water was coming up in the street. Turned out that a hole blew in a pipe the feeds a fire hydrant and in turn blew the top off of the valve for the hydrant. So I spent the last 12 hours in and out of a backhoe and in and out of a hole, all of this less than a mile from Lake Michinga with the wind blowing 25mph right off of the lake. I'm sweating, shivering, muddy, wet......but spring is right around the corner. It's finding the right corner that I can't figure out. Beav

| Brother works for the water dept. here, but he does the chemical testing stuff. I just went outside, and now sleet is covering the frozen rain; thought it was snow at first, and I hope we end up getting snow as this frozen stuff really bites! We are at the top of a small ridge, .5 miles up and the road is winding/steep, facing the north side, and is a real pain to get up/down...the driveway is already super slick, and unless we get some snow on top of this stuff, our 4 wheel bangers won't help a lot on ice. But, we got the gas logs, plenty of eats and a nice view, I would hate not to be able to meet Floater because of this stuff! Hope for clear roads tomorrow.... | |||

Posts: 793 Location: Ames, Iowa | Hey Sponge Bob, we got the same system here on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning. Lots of rain, then freezing rain, followed by 8 inches of snow. Everything came to a standstill. Now very cold, but sunny. The good news is that yours won't stick around as long as ours. Hang in there. Don

| Wish the sun was out here Don! Stuff is supposed to be here through tomorrow. I just talked to Floater on the phone, and he is stuck at the Holiday Inn about an hour from here. He tried to fish some, but everything froze up on him. Guess I'll load the assorted spongees in the truck and maybe hit the golf course for some sledding etc., probably end up in Waldo Mart looking at hamster supplies too. I can see why you guys go nuts up there...3 days of this stuff has even me thinking crazy thoughts! | |||

Location: Athens, Ohio | let it snow, let it snow, hey wait a minute! Snow started here in SE Ohio Friday afternoon, by yesterday morning we had half a foot. Then this morning, freezing rain and all roads in the county are closed to vehicles except emergencies. Supposed to have 18" by Monday noon. We have food, firewood and beer so we'll make it! m

Posts: 585 Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland | Hey, the Lake opens here (north of Sponge Bob in the People's Republic of Maryland) in two weeks. Sure glad I bought my new snow blower this year! (actually, my wife bought it for me because she thought I would drop dead if I shoveled any snow).

| MK, how much white stuff will you end up w/? We got nothing but sleet/freezing rain and just a few flakes. Went in this morning for some extra holiday pay, gave up after 1 hr....threw some salt down in hopes that it might loosen things up for tomorrow, impossble to shovel the stuff! We do need the moisture though, so guess in the long run it's good. Going to try to meet Floater at the airport Wed. morning; he and his bro were going to try a float trip down the James River, guess I'll slide across the street and kamikazi the big field w/ little sponge, that sleet really slicked things down, and the drop will take your breath! | |||
