| Looking for suggestions on boots for the Xmas list. Have a pair of lightweight Wolverines right now that I love, but they are falling apart after 10+ years and don't keep my feet warm or dry in the snow/slush. Also have a heavy duty pair of Sorels that are super warm, but really heavy and bulky and are actually kind of dangerous to wear in the boat in the late fall. I do a lot of ice fishing. So, I'm looking for:
*Lightweight
*Warm
*Waterproof
*Available in size 14+

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | What kind of boot are you looking for? A pack boot but smaller than your sorels or something with good support like a hiking/hunting boot? Do your feet get cold easy? Would these do double duty as an ice fishing boot or would you be using the sorels for that?

I absolutely love my Mickey's for ice fishing and other uses but will not wear them in the boat. They are too bulky to control the foot pedal with and would be dangerous if you were to fall in with them on. |

if you don't already have a boot drier put that on your christmas list … they are as important as the good pair of boots are. |

Am looking for an all-in-one, including ice fishing and in the boat. Feet do get cold sometimes (not in the Sorels). Arch support wouldn't be a huge consideration.
And yes, I actually have two boot dryers in case one goes down!

| Not quite what you are asking for, but from a fishing perspective they are gold. Cabela's Alaskan Guideboot. Warm, waterproof, and not at all bulky. Good down to 20 degrees or so. I will say that for those utterly frigid days that can sometimes show up in November I might go with a different option, but from sub 60 to 25 these are my choice. |

They are a bit bulky but surprisingly light weight and needless to say very warm. I use them ice fishing and deer hunting. Ive been able to use them while hunting from climber stands and other small platforms without difficulty. I've had 2 foot surgeries in the last 6 months and was very pleased with the support. No support from my mucks....found out the hard way.
Cabelas has the black ones in size 14 for $119

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sportsman's Guide 2000 gram side zip and lace ups. I have both, the side zips are new. I hunted in them all last week, and was very impressed; light, warm, comfortable.
I fished out of the lace ups up on LOTW in the snow and cold, and ice fished in them all last winter. Nice boots, a bit bulkier than the side zips.
Side zips are about $90 a pair, lace ups a little less.

Location: Ontario | I use New Balance gore tex shoes with a good pair of socks I have no issues. They keep me warm dry and fit my big feet (size 14) they aren't big or clumsy like boats and are water proof to the last lace. I wear mine daily and get a full season of guiding out of a pair with some lasting 2 seasons. (my season is 200 + days a year) |

I love my Danner boots with 200g thinsulate for fall fishing, if it's too cold for those the lake is frozen. The breathability is key to staying warm when temps are going up and down and activity level may cause sweating feet.

Location: Aurora | Know what you mean RE traction & nimbleness in the boat late fall/early winter.
Decks get icy so traction & stability are necessities right along with warmth and minimal bulk.
Was at Cabelas tonite & tried on many including the Infernos & Predators.
Opinions follow:
Both were surprisingly lightweight but felt ski-boot like around the ankle which I imagined would hamper my nimbleness in the boat but no doubt great for what they're designed for. The Infernos were about as bulky as i'd dare to wear in a boat and the Predators are comically bulky and have a removable liner in them but again, both are much lighter than you'd expect & designed for hunting, not fishing I'd presume. Definitely worth trying on if you're so inclined. The Predators are flamethrower warm.
Also worth a try-on are the ones I ended up going with (see pic). I was hesitant because they kinda look like a kid's boot at first glance but once I had um on, I was sold. There's room in the toe box for warmers if you need them which was another selling point for me. They feel like a Sorel you can play basketball in and they're on sale to "boot".
Pun intended..
Here's the fit info I experienced with my 10.5 shoe size:
Predators - 12 (probably due to their extra liner)
Infernos - 11
Keens - 11

Baffin Apex are the boots I am getting for Xmas that meet your list requirements. I've gone through a number of pair of winter boots and am sick of always ending up with cold feet/toes one way or another. No personal experience with them outside, but I tried them on and it's like you're walking on pillows and my feet started sweating in about 30 seconds in the store. Rated to -148 fahrenheit. |

| When I tried them on I wore winter socks, a thicker Marino wool blend. I wear an 11.5 shoe. A 12 Baffin Apex fit perfectly. So, pretty close for me. Check EBay for prices on these. $240 plus tax in store, $179 shipped to your door online. |
