Location: PA | I use pre looped at one end wire forms from LPO, cheap for a25 pack. As said above knipex round nose are the best. Put the buck tail together ,bend your hook loop at the end, add hooks n go fish. |

Location: Poynette WI. | I've made a lot of bucktails this year and all i use is a round nose pliers and i have a nail pounded into a secure surface on my desk with the head cut off, that i use for the end looped and wraps. Right next to the nail i have a screw leaving enough room for .051 wire to slide between the two that i use for put bending back my loop before wrapping. I simply do a half wrap and rotate the loop on the nail until i have desired # of wraps. I then make an L shape with excess wire left over and use a vice grips to turn wire into the wraps which will break the remainder of the wire of right at the wrap without any sharp edges. This works very well with a little practice, sounds confusing but if you get this set up in front of you it might make a little more sense. I also buy mine sometimes with one looped already from LPO, only problem with that is they only use one wrap and I like a minimum of two for musky. |
