I seem to fall into a pattern of fishing with and buying only a few types of lures. Whats your fishing style?

I Like
Grinding Spinner baits
Twitching or casting cranks
Topwater Topwater Topwater

I actually like Suicks. Can't buy a fish on one to save my life, but they are fun to throw. I like a good glider late in the fall. I hate ripping grandmas, but I do it because it works. Tail props get boring unless the fish are active. Walk the dog lures are fun when conditions warrant using them.

I guess I like whatever I presume will work the best for when and where I am fishing. I do have to admit that I hate bulldawgs. They work, I get it. I throw them. But fishing deep over something you can't see, working a lure that you can't feel any vibration or anything, and don't see until the end of a cast? I do it. But I prefer lures where I get to see the whole mess unfold before my eyes. I like to know when I am about to catch a fish.

I have a tendency to buy dang near everything!
I dislike: safety pin style spinners, light gliders and plain ol' reeling in cranks
I like: dang near everything else!
I LOVE: BullDawgs,Hard Heads... SMASH/BASH cranks into rocks/logs/any other structure.8" Jakes and Cranes are my goto lures. General twitching, less aggressive. Suicks, Smuttly's,Cobbs and AP Gliders.

After a few years of trying to catch fish with the newest hot baits I have gotten back to basics. I pick out a half dozen baits, usually before I leave the house , that i feel will be best for the given situation. I rig three rods. One with a jerk bait, suick or big daddy. One with a grinder for weeds. And one with something deep like a medussa or triple d. I have found success with really dialing in on a few baits rather than trying to find the "right" bait. Back to really working baits to create strikes.

This is a good question and speaks volumes.
I try and buy lures where I can reach all depths and control all speeds both trolling and casting.

I have way too many baits..... and end up having the same ol' Cowgirl, Bulldawg, Big Game, and Topwater on my 4 rods almost always.
Confidence trumps all.

Yes, confidence trumps all.
I love throwing bucktails, twitching cranes, and throwing top water.
I hate throwing suicks, jerk baits, and jigs even though they catch fish.

I have a simple theory, buy them all. Have so many baits that you don't know the names or how they are supposed to work. Pile a bunch of various baits into the bucket head out and figure them out as you go. Sometimes I=you teach yourself a new trick or two rather than staying with the old baits and retrieves.

I will third that... patience is a virtue, but persistence to the point of success is a blessing!

A few good baits that you have the confidence to throw helps you put time on the water and boats fish.

That being said, even your confidence baits were 'new' baits at one time... food for thought.

My preferences are big tandem bucktail spinnerbaits like MGs all year long... slow rollin' during late fall through early spring and faster the rest of the season. Open water, cabbage, wood, boulders... simply my go-to bait.
I also like fishing dawgs... rippin' em', jiggin' em', or just straight crankin' em'... they catch fish for me consistently.
I don't like gliders... I fish em', but don't like em.

A few years ago I started paying attention to how many baits people bring with them versus how many baits they use.
In general, no matter how many baits are brought along, only 4 or 5 are used.
My three rods are pretty consistently rigged with a drop belly glider, Doghouse Bucktail or Cowgirl, and a Slammer 6" or 7" crank bait. The first bait in reserve is topwater.
These options take care of me no matter where the muskie waters are that I am fishing.
