What does everyone think. 3 of us in a 19ft tracker targa. Winds sat are wsw at 17 with gusts Sunday west at 13. I think it will be 4fters but the other two want to try it. Been in that area with winds 10mph from the NW and it was rough.

I have pretty much the same boat. I fish Erie in 3's.couldnt much imagine hanging over the side trying to revive a fish in 3's. can't see over 5's when in the trough. Fish the river, or stay home. Either way, be safe.

Usually pretty good, but has been a little sporadic lately. I can tell you, if it goes NW over 15kts and gusty, things get ugly at the Belle in a hurry.

This one is also good to have, until they pull the bouy (which is soon). Be sure to double the wave height shown, as the bouy reads median to peak, not peak to trough. FYI.

Thanks for all the replies. Seen the increase in the wind. My friend wants to go really really bad. He does not want to fish in waves like that but does not think that wind from that direction will make it that rough and we will be protected by the point at the belle river.

???????????? the only way the point of the belle river will protect you is if you don't leave the marina. Is he familiar with the area?

Not to speak out of turn here, but unless you're in a 25-30' boat, you're a moron to go fish in that. I won't troll salmon in my 18' Tuffy in anything bigger than 4'ers...and even then it's just dumb. But you're going to cast in 7'ers?

Please put me in your will for your lure collection.

I run a 2870 Pursuit and a 36 Tiara, mainly. I will NOT be fishing 30kt gusty winds. SW offers a little protection (but not from any point at the Belle), just shoreline.

WEST wind offers nothing on the South shore, unless you hide behind Peche.

You are better off waiting for a better day. If not, plan going east via shore another 12-14 miles, and launching at Lighthouse. Jumping into the hamster wheel, I mean the Thames, if you absolutly have to go.

There are plenty of places to fish out of the wind. Maybe not the 2 places that everyone fishes (Belle and Sturgeon Hole) in the fall, but come on ToddM, there will be people out fishing.

Go find a protected place to fish. Or PM me and I could help you find safe waters to fish with a WSW wind....even in those conditions.

safety first.

Steve I believe you there are places to fish. Thing is its a 6 hour drive two plus tanks and hotel and fishing options very limited. If the fish are not there your out of options. Will go back at a later time. This is a neat place to fish with a lifetime of learning. Not going to be able to Halloween party in Windsor just as much of a disappointment. Thanks again for the feedback everyone!

Hey Todd
I believe we are in the same club FRV. I am also planning 4 days to Belle river, I just got back from Erie small mouth fishing we had winds to about 15 mph 4 footers was fishable but rough took some waves over the bow and I have a 20 foot Yar-craft. There are plenty of musky in Detroit river but they are deep. If the wind and weather looks good I am going the second week of November, maybe we can hook up

Not worth it! Don't 2nd guess yourself. We were out yesterday and lots of mud and only gonna get worse. I gotta believe most of the big girls are hunkered down through the 7 footers and sitting in mud. Just keep telling yourself that and you won't feel bad for not getting out there.

I was fishing just west of the entrance to the belle river today on st. clair. On the way out I lost a 8'6" lamiglass rod with a diawa saltist reel. I don't think it would float but there is a lot of cork on the handle. By the off chance that someone finds this I would be extremely gratefull if you would return it to me. I am offering a reward just incase it is found. Just send me a PM if you do happen to find it. Thanks
