Posts: 140 Location: Northern Illinois | What's the worst spot you have been nailed w/a musky lure this year? I'm pretty new to musky fishing and received my first dose of musky reality w/a essox assault drone spinner treble in the hollow spot right behind the knee. My fishing partner hit a weed close to the boat & you know the rest of the story. The worst part was I couldn't really see it very well. We were able to push it through and cut the barb & back it out. Laughed it off & kept fishing. Had a few other close calls this summer.... you tend to learn pretty fast w/those big hooks whizzing around. I did manage a few choice swear words or ten when I felt the hook. ![]() ![]()

Posts: 556 | Have gotten a Big Musky Treble in the Palm of my hand twice in 30+ years of Musky Fishing. Also got 1 in the back of my head when my partner came sidarm instead of overhand on the cast. All 3 required trips to the Hospital as they were all buried real good and just couldn't pull them out. It Happens---I do keep all the proper tools handy and we have handled several hundred fish over the years so overall pretty good. But it is in the back of my mind when I handle a big fish---they are powerful and can get away from anybody. Doesn't take much when you have nice sharp hooks.

Posts: 216 | I have a buddy that bent over to look at a boat side 50" it jumped and drove the hooks in his check along his bottom jawbone. He and the fish were joined at the lips both thrashing, the fish shook off and got away but my friend didn't. He took that lure to the hospital and had to have it professionally and expensively removed.that's a bad one. The guy that had the fish on the line was mad that it got away. Lol

Makes me feel faint looking at that.. 8 years agoI had all 3 barbs from one treble on a creek chub minnow barried between my pointer finger knuckle and middle finger from mishandling a small pike. Long ride from the middle of nowhere to the closest hospital.

Posts: 40 Location: B;acksburg Virginia | I was taking my nephew musky fishing for the first time a few years ago I gave him a mudpuppy to throw and he hooked me in my right ear, I had to run it on through and cut the barb off. that's the worst i've ever been hooked. My nephew did end of getting a 39 inch musky about an hour later so it was it to worth getting hooked to see him get his first musky. He has cerebral palsy and cant walk but I was so proud of him

Posts: 98 | I had a buddy go to cast a cowgirl and buried it in my skull as he went to fling it. Stuck right in my head. I drove to the hospital with the hooks in and had it removed there. That same buddy has hooked my jeans and stuck me in the thigh. The thigh wasn't as bad because he set the hook on a fish and it just came flying out at me. Still friends, still fish together, and I'm the best man in his wedding....good stuff
