What do you guys use for a headlamp? I had a Browning Nitro and loved it, ridiculously bright and great battery life. Unfortunately it went AWOL, so I want to order a new one, wondering if there is anything better out there.

I Just use a rayovac one, mainly use the red led unless I wanna do something fast. Eyes don't have to adjust much then.

browning maxus, very nice, only minor complaint is the on/off button is a little small...but once you get use to where it is you can find it pretty quick, very bright, has a flood beam that is adjustable plus it has a green and red led for doing stuff around the boat/changing baits etc.. $35 or so on ebay.

Got an Energizer Hard Case Headlamp this summer and really like it. Uses AA batteries, nice and bright and has red and green led. Also has a lifetime warranty.

i finally got a "real" one instead of the cheapos ... i chose a petal and like it so far. we use em ice fishing and they are critical so finally wised up. first season and noticeably better quality especially in the head-band area.

cheap, look at Black Diamond, princetontec and Petzel - all have great battery life and lumen choices. I currently use a black diamond and it has infinite light adjustability just by holding down the power button. Make sure you get at least an IPX4 rating which makes it waterproof to splashing etc... IPX8 is water proof and that's what I use. It can be submerged for 10 min without blowing it out. Also make sure you get something that has good flooding of light and NOT spot light. They will tell you on the package. Some models have both modes.

Expensive - Zebra light. Durable, good batt life but $90 or more. But let me say its quite BRIGHT.

I have 3 Gander Mountain ones, not sure who makes them. They are fairly cheap and work great. 3 led lights. No complaints here.

Lenser - works great as a spotlight too. Do a search online first. About 60% off to get online than from the popular sporting good stores.

A cheap, easy, comfortable alternative is the ball cap visor clip on headlamps they sell at Lucky 7 gas stations in MN...

Man I started out with the more expensive traditional minor type--but always felt heavy to me----the clip on stays on my night fishing hat----after dark one click--and that thing lights up the water big time...

All for under 12 bucks----only drawback the on/off switch will go if you use it a lot like I do loading and unloading/getting wood for campfires, checking on the boat during a storm at the dock etc.....

But the visor clip on is a really under rated must have in my boat---I keep a spare and batteries in my dry storage compartment on the boat.
