| I'll be heading to Canada the first week of October and while I've fished up there for musky quite a bit I've always gone up in July or August and had good luck with top water baits. Is October to late to be fishing top water baits? |

Location: Minnesota. | No. If your baits bounce off the frozen surface then it's too late.
Really, take them along and have a great trip. I do find myself tossing hair and wood a lot in fall too though but I'm really a topwater prefs kinda boy.
Have a really fun trip!!

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I can't say I have given top water a fair shot up in Canada on my fall trips...but if you are hitting cold water and overall cold conditions I would have to be pretty shocked to think that is your best bet. Worth a fair chance I suppose but I have always done pretty well on cranks and jerks that time of year. And some years they still chase bucktails, others you pass up a lot of fish if you toss em too much...just my thoughts.. |

Location: Appleton, WI | I dont know about Canada but in Northern Wisconsin i will throw walk the dog baits and slow roll a top raider all October. I let the fish tell me what it is in the mood for. |

Location: WESTERN WI | The fish don't follow a calender but water temps, I like a subtle cold front going into the early fall/fall season and there is a 1week-2week period where tpwtr is dynamite! In my experience. |
