Hello everyone,
I'n a few Weeks I will be fishing at Mallard Lake again.
I plan on using one pole for suckers and the other for lures.
now, if I am fortunate enough to catch one I will be getting it, no matter what size as long add its a Muskie, made into a replica not stuffing it because I don't want to kill it. Who makes the best replicas and how much is the pricing? I know what lures i'm using and planning to fish in the 20 foot section of the lake by the piers. Any advice is welcome or stories about the lake. Thanks and good luck fishing!

-Zachary

I wouldn't mind paying more to shop it from MN because i'm only getting one replica and I don't plan on getting more but it all depends on the total price

Zach, good luck out there, no giants in mallard yet but a 40"er is a possibility. Hope you catch one.

Hey Zachary, I wouldn't limit yourself to 20 feet of shoreline, there's a lot of interesting shorelines at mallard. I grew up in dupage county, and I remember getting a book with all the maps of the lakes with depths and other information included at the parking lot information shelter of at that forest preserve (i bet this is online now). Anyway, find a map, look at the contour of the bottom, and perhaps find some spots with good structure, weedlines, drop offs, potential fish holding zones not on the piers where all the meathogs fish with 20 rods each.

Don't ever be afraid to walk a good ways to find a spot. the best spots are always the ones the farthest from the parking lot as I found growing up fishing a lot of the dupage county forest preserve lakes.

and if at all a possibility, get out there in a canoe and you could really explore and probably have a better chance to find musky holding spots

EDIT: Because of the regulations I'm not going to be able to bring my boat on the water and will have to fit from shore.

there are so many good lakes to fish in that area personally i would drive half a mile in any direction and find a lake to paddle around on. Almost all of them have muskies in them
