| Any advice on a place to stay for a few days near Detroit on the lake that is close to muskie grounds. I saw a place that had two apartments on the water and a marina but cant find it .I thought it was close to Detroit or St Clair shores. Or a place to stay near a good muskie area. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks

Location: Delavan, WI | im pretty sure the place you are talking about is on the Canadian side not too many places to stay on the water there however If u want to stay on the US side I would recommend the Red Roof inn I think its either in Roseville- or St Clair Shores they are fisherman friendly and not too far from the Metro launch |

| Last time I was there we stayed at the Extended Stay in Roseville based on the guides recommendation. It was a nice hotel and about 10 minutes from the 9 mile launch. |

Location: Lake St. Clair | as far as "near muskie grounds" andywhere near any part of the lake would qualify for that! haha. Red Roof in is a good choice as it is very fisherman friendly |

| I have never been to st. clair and would like to make it up there this fall. I have also heard bad stories about the neighborhoods around the lake. Is anglers point in a "family friendly" area? |

YES - AP is in a friendly area. Chesterfield is one of the Northern suburbs of Detroit.
Also, AP is located directly across from a nice state boat ramp and is protected by the SANG base. (within a stones throw of the base)

| One of my buddies booked Chris mahan for this past weekend and they did well I believe 10 for 17 or something close and he also lost about a 54 boat side. |

| Lots of pretty good musky guys get their butts kicked by St Clair despite what they see on TV and Facebook. IF you're determined to not use a guide [recommended] a good stategy would be to get in touch with Jason Chaney at Michigan Musky Shop. [ he's on Facebook for contact info] He can give you some starting points and up to date info on what's happening. In October the lake can change overnight from crystal clear to chocolate , glass calm to rolling whitecaps. |

| October is a great time to be there. The weather can be unpredictable at times and on St. Clair strong winds aren't your friend. Then again strong winds can happen in any month of the year. I'm going to be there in mid November this year and was there late October last year. Had a great time then and will again this year. They will be stacked up near river mouths in October and there will be lots of people fishing those areas. Don't let that scare you off though, there are plenty for everyone. Sure it can be tough as any lake can be, but it's still one of the best musky lakes in the world. Whenever you decide to go you won't be disappointed. |

Location: Cave Run Lake KY. | On St. Clair you never know , till you know. GO when you can, on St Clair it seems like you get a north west wind every night, if you are not off the lake by dark thirty you are going into white caps. I have fished the lake in July, Aug. @ Sept. and we had wind every night. Good fishing to you. Marv. |

| Thanks guys. I went in July with a buddy (not guided) and we soon realized how invaluable it would be to book a guide. We are just hoping to hit a few fish! And I would really like to break my Pb at 47 and 3/4! We will see I appreciate everyone's input! |

Location: Lake St. Clair | Being that is pend the whole season out there.....October is a great time to be there. Weather is just something you are going to have to deal with. By that time the shad will be starting to stage up in the rivers and they will start to get really good. If you plan on fishing only US water, I would suggest starting in the North channel area (St Clair River). This will also allow you to stay protected from possible big winds depending on their direction. You can literally fish miles of cabbage beds along the shipping channel and there will be fish there. There will be many other boats but don't forget, these spots are miles long so you wont be crowded. Get out there, beat it up, be prepared to throw pounders and monster medussas for 12-15 hours a day and you will be successful! haha. Sounds like a lot of work and it is but that's what I have the most success with all year and especially that time of year. Anchor bay can be pretty good as there are many main bay points with tons of cabbage. I don't fish out there that time of year but many people do and they catch fish. Good Luck! |
