| I am currently using Flex Coat and I also have used EnviroTech and both of these products tend to not hold up under heavy hook rash. Is there any Clear Coat available that can with stand more punishment while continuing to stay bonded to the bait though the shrinking and swelling of the wood through out the seasons? |

Location: Money, PA | If you are getting hook rash, its due to either the design of your bait or split rings. If you're okay with the design and accept the rash, then it will be tough to prevent because over time the hooks will wear into wood, plastic and just about every material lures are made from. I do not use split rings on the bellies of my lures for that very reason and my baits are virtually hook rash free. I simply cut bad hooks off, open the screw eye and re-apply a fresh hook when needed. Works well for me.
If you have a through wire design, you can try moving your belly hook hanger placement...otherwise its pretty much inevitable in this case.
Good Luck.

| gotta live with it. you can use the double hook to avoid some rash. on our smaller georgie baits and minnee shads we use mustad 4/0 doubles.
other then that grin and bare it man. |
