I recently upgraded to a 24v system and have noticed the extra battery weight is causing the back of the boat to sit lower in the water and can become a problem with a full tank in rough water. I am thinking about moving the trolling motor batteries to a storage area in the bow of the boat. Are there any reasons I should not do this? The only thing I can think of is making sure the storage area is well ventilated.

Better to have them in the bow in almost every situation. In addition to the weight issue, you know have your power much closer to the TM, which should result in better performance when it comes to power and battery life.

I have mine in the bow for same reason.
However the batteries will take a beating up there which could affect lifespan.
I put a few in he's of foam under thm for cushion. And I go easy over waves if possible.
