Do you lock your storage compartments, when you tie up at night, or do you just leave them unlocked? I don't want my things stolen, but do I want all the locks, and compartments broke? If they're going to steal things, locks won't stop them. Thanks Doug

I lock mine. Figure a thief will move on to the next boat where someone has not locked thiers and it is easier pickings.

I bring all of my equipment in at night. Learned a hard lesson a few years back when they got me for over 3 grand.

There are locks and there are locks. Many might as well have skipped having a key for all the security they provide. Some can be twisted by many with their bare hands and by anyone with a vice-grip pliers. Others, like the ones Ranger is using for the last three or four years are really very good. I like to us the Loc-R-Bar to secure my compartments when leaving the boat out in hotel lots. It's like having a dog or leaving the light on....you want to make your stuff just a little harder to steal so that the thief looks for an easier target!

Anything valuable (rods/reels /lures /net /tools /GPS) comes in at night. Too many posts on here of stuff getting stolen.

There's no point in locking them on my boat. I broke my key off in one of them and thought I was toast. Well, if you pull hard enough with a lot of the rotating bar locks the metal bends and it opens right up. However, if you're ever making an insurance claim you better tell them the compartments were locked, a lot of policies state you must keep them locked for insurance to cover losses.

Sounds like you answered your own question.

There is a reason for the locks and as long as I paid for them they will be used. Keeps the wife from finding some of my "special" baits.

I take everything in after each outing: rods, reels, lures, GPS, and used to trolling motor until I got a maxxum that is all one piece. No way I'm leaving a few grand outside and hoping its there in the morn.
