My girlfriend uses a toro 50, she wants to cast pounders, but I do not want to put 100lb on the reel. What is the strongest 80lb? That might be best option.

What? really. Pick one and spool it up. I would be amazed if any one has done a static load test to check the claims of every 80lb braid. Would a couple #s of tensile strength mean anything in the real world?

What about the abrasion resistance, because if the line is frayed a bit that changes the break strength of the line.

I have never had any issue breaking 80# on casts, teach her to cast properly and you will be golden for a very long time.

There are tests, I believe PP and Tuff line break around 96lbs. I think diameter would be more an issue with pounders. BR

I use 80 lb Cortland Masterbraid and Suffix 832 to throw Pounders and everything else with no problems. Make sure it isn't old or frayed and you'll probably be fine.

You have a girlfriend that wants to throw Pounders? When do you pick up the ring?

I would highly suggest using 100 lb with pounders. Cortland 100 Masterbraid is all you need.

Suggestions for a thinner diameter 100lb braid? Thanks.

People want to use 100lb just BECAUSE they factor in some fraying, thus losing strength. I've been using Sunline 80lb, because it doesn't fray . It lasts 4 times longer than other braids, it's the roundest, and holds the least water.

You can get it from Musky Innovations, called Musky Braid, or straight from Sunline. It's the FX2.

The first time I used it was 2 days after the ice came off the lakes, and I was astounded how dry my hands stayed. There was virtually no water left on the line. I know PP is the same way when it's brand new, but that's just because of the coating they put on it which, as we all know, wears off quickly.

What's lighter 80lbs of feathers or 80lbs of stones?

Just busting your balls. Get stealth.
