| Occasionally I've been known to downsize to 14 cm husky jerks and spinning gear. Having become addicted to no-stretch lines, I tried using 20 and 30 lb test superline, but found that it had a tendency to toward unreconcilable tangles. Has anyone out there found a no-strech line that performs on a spinning reel?
Also, assuming spectra lines are simply not going to work out, how about non-spectra based lines like Fireline?
Has anyone tried the Iron-Silk line? Does it have less stretch than than regular mono? |

| horse, I have been through this with the wife for a couple seasons before I got her to throw a baitcaster! The best most hassle free thing was trilene XT in 17# test. Everything else turned out to be a cluster-muck and a waste of money. She never lost a fish due to line malfuntion and could throw little baits a mile, great for that clear water too! Just some insight! Handy |

| i use 50 lb power pro on spinning gear with no problems, small and large baits... |

| I use 80 lb. Power pro on my Penn spinner, no problem with backlash or tangles, it does wear on the index finger after a while, though. I also like the Spiderwire camo muskie braid, but I think they quit making it. You may be having a problem in the way you feed the line onto the reel, remember you don't put a pencil in the spool on spinning gear, just lay it on the floor and wind. best wishes, m[] |

| Horse dude...one thing you might do when putting line on a spinning reel, is to make sure that the line is coming off the BOTTOM of the line spool onto your reel spool; I use a Berkley Spooling Station and the rule of thumb is "OVER" cast when lining a baitcaster, and "UNDER" spin when using a spinning reel...I have forgotten in the past and spooled from the top onto a spinning reel and ahd some bad tangles meself.! I use Power Pro and have never had a problem; some buddies use the same to catch GIANT drum(saltwater) and love it. [:sun:]
*If the line is causing finger rash, try a small piece of first aid tape on the bottom of your index finger, should fix the prob! |

| FIRELINE WORKS GREAT TRY RUNNING THE LINE IN A WET RAG WITH GOOD PRESURE ON IT AS YOU SPOOL UP IT HELPS A LOT.

| Fireline is the best superline for spinning reels. It's not so limp that it tangles all the time but limp enough for long casts. I have it on my spinning outfits and I have caught hundreds of bass and crappie with them. |

|
| Fireline will work for you but use a mono backing (or tape the line it to the spool at the start with electrical tape) otherwise the line may spin on the spool under stress. |

| ive tried tuff line...not good.....ive also used fireline and spider wire..those both work fine for me |
|
| |
|
| I have used fireline for years and last year tried Tuf-line XP. Now all my spinning has the XP! The 20# casts farther than 14# fireline and is hassel free![] |

|
| If I'm using something like Tuf-line on a spinning reel, do I need to add backing to the reel before adding the Tuf-line to prevent the line from slipping? |
|
| |
|
| yes you need backing try taping it on. works great

| Thank you everyone for your opinions. I appreciate it. I am leaning toward trying Fireline.
I am, however, interested to know more about the new Tuf-line XP. What is the deal? It does not absorb water? I almost bought some for the baitcasting reels last year but I balked at the price. I may have paid for it in December with soaked, frozen hands. Any other product reviews on the Tuf-line XP?
SPONGE, I do not understand what you are talking about. By UNDER, do you mean the end of the line that is buried UNDER the rest of the line when you buy it? Also, what size arbor on the reels you're using? Does a larger arbor eliminate the tangling with braided spectra? |

| XP is cheaper than fireline and I have left fireline for good after using XP. Fireline was great for me, for many years, but, the XP 20 or 30# casts farther, and is superior. Bass Pro has the XP at a decent price. I've never had a snarl problem with either line, but, I use Shimano reels with AERO wrap. This makes for perfect spooling.[;)] |

| Here's the trick to keeping from having spinning backlashes.
1. Take the bait and any hardware off your line
2. Start to troll and feed most of your line out. Once you get a few yards in the water the drag from it will pull the rest in.
3. Troll for at least 300yrds and reel the line back in.
By doing this your line will have a chance to "unwind" no matter how you put it on the spool. It's good to do this every couple days out depending on how much you use the reel. |
