The handle is a preference. |

| there is an issue, but might not be a problem, depends on your style
your hand moves farther (around) per crank with power handle -- if you want to bring in line quickly the power handle will slow you down---you simply can't move a long handle through a full rotation as fast as you can a short handle
not everyone works jerks and/or wtd really quick, but if you want to retrieve slack line very fast, a high-geared reel with a stubby handle is way to go (eg, Abu 6600 C4 with stock handle)
hard to know what you like until you try it
if you're new at the sport and don't have the option to play around with other guys' gear, might be worth buying a second hand abu C3 and a C4 and a powerhandle so you can swap the reels/handles around get a bit of an idea of what gear ratios with what size handles do what (before you start buying $200+++ reels) |

| I nominate that "Guest" post as most insightful "Guest" post of the year to date! Spot on!
That said, my style preference is for power handles. Stock paddle handles feel strange to me, as do rods butts shorter than 18 1/2" and rods shorter than 8' 9". Jes' sayin'! |

Location: Gilberts IL/Rhinelander WI | I've stripped the drive shaft on a calcutta te, throwing rubber, with a power handle. I figured out that I was pulling on the handle way too hard while ripping dawgs. I switched to a lefty te, rip with my dominate hand now. I have power handles on all my reels now. |
