I'm getting new rods. I need info on rod length and action. 9 footers seem to be the hot set up. What length and what action would you suggest. Thanks in advance for your info. Jim

Use the search function and you'll find a ton of threads on this with lots of good info. This has been discussed several times. Action will depend on what your throwing and most folks go with 8 6 or 9.

longer the better. I use 9ft rods for glide baits. only time I use an 8ft rod is when I fish 3 or 2 in my small boat. the only reason for that is that I,work baits with my rod cross ways vs up and down so it can get in the way in those situations.

I went for using 76 rods to 9' rods and loved them. Its hard for me now to use a shorter rod than 86. I am 5'10" for ref. Much easier to throw baits all day with a longer rod and your lure sees more water time IMO.

I was using 7' rods for the longest time. bought 8' rods this year. then I tried a friend's 9' predator. immediately went out and bought a 9' predator myself!

I use a 6'10" rod for Jerkbaits all the way up to a 10'3" for Pounders and Bucktails. You will have to find what you are comfortable with and what works best for you.

7'6" for jerks and 8' for everything else.
