Location: Minneapolis, MN | I use PP 80# but I'm thinking of switching to the cortland masterbraid 100#. I was out fishing with a guide that had that on his reels and even if I did experience a backlash it was a hell of a lot easier to get out then it would have been with PP. |

| i have every brand there is on one of my reels at least... My favorite is Cortland Broozeback. My least favorite is 832.. The only one i don't have yet is the Hi Seas but plan to find some soon. |

| bought 2 spools of it last year and tried it on 2 different reels. If you get any backlash, good luck getting it out..also bled all over my boat. Looked like someone killed a martian on my casting deck. It takes a while to break in as it was stiff right off the spool. It also doesn't seem as abrasion strong as the others. I could cut with a dull knife basically. I was out with a guide who had the same experience i had and we were talking about it. He said he lost a lure getting hung up in some rocks with just one pull of the rod. It made sense because cutting it with a knife was easy, it just snapped. Now, cutting PP, or the others takes a little bit of strength. I won't buy it again. Some love it, but i feel there is better on the market. Even the Sufix performance braid (the regulare stuff) is far better IMO. I would go as far as to say i hate the 832.. Again, if you spool up cortland bronze on a reel and 832 on a reel you will notice the difference immediately. NO comparison.
And before anyone says it was my fault the 832 was so bad, think again. i spool pretty tight and never have backlashes. I had a small backlash however on a very windy day in a tournment and i basically had to cut the stuff off my spool. Hodini couldn't have untangled the mess it left. It just digs in so far. |

Location: Hayward, WI | Interesting. I'm currently using 832 and Cortland Masterbraid and both work well for me. Have held up well for at least one season, and have had no issues. My 832 bled just very slightly, don't have issues with backlashes.
Between the two I might prefer the Cortland but both have been doing the job for me. Maybe they ran a bad lot of 832 at some point?

| Its possible, but i bought one spool at gander and the other spool online about a month later. Could have been a bad batch but they were bought at different times. Mine was very green when i got them. |

I actually got my favorite bucktail hung up in a tree due to my mistake because I was casting into the sun and my depth perception was off because I forgot my sunglasses. Needless to say we could not get it out no matter how hard we pulled. So I pulled out some slack, tied it to the boat and gave it a little gas. After a few moments it ripped the branch right out of the tree! Thats a testament to both the 832 and stealth leaders!

| + 1 for the Cortland Spectron, Bronze, or Masterbraid.
I have used 35# for small 6" Jakes etc., 50# for medium sized baits and 80# for big stuff without any problems.
I think the Cortland stretches a little more than most other super braids, giving it more shock resistance.It is also softer than most others, making it easier to cast. |

Wasn't the knot or a backlash, only thing it could have been was abrasion but like I said it was first cast of a fresh spooling so I would have needed to beat it up while spooling. I know there are multiple possibilities, like I just got a bad bach, but yeah, still annoying. |

| All the guys that are telling you to use tuff line don't fish the late fall or fish alone, buy tuff line and I promise you, you will be changing the line. Your hands reel partner are in for a wet ride, the line is great but holds tons of water, try that in the cold fall. Use anything other then tuff line for a casting reel.
I have use power pro for years in big fish water without fail. In the end its up to you but don't spend money on tuff line for casting |
