Posts: 1168 | Wouldn't want one on LOTW. Wouldn't want one on any specific lake. In fact I wouldn't trade the location of the one I have now for anything.

Posts: 2064 | Lots of choices but I think I'd pick a lake I've never fished for muskies on (but need to soon) Leech Lake. Why? Its obviously an outstanding lake in it own right and complex enough (I like big lakes) + there are very good lakes in every direction. Would make an excellent "home base" - If only the wife agreed we need a north-woods cabin ![]() Edited by IAJustin 6/17/2013 2:51 PM

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | LOTW, Eagle, Lac Seul in that order...or I am saving my money and taking a pass. Get bored of small water way too easily. Needs to be big water, scenic, quiet, and have potential for big fish.

Its obviously an outstanding lake in it own right and complex enough (I like big lakes) + there are very good lakes in every direction. Would make an excellent "home base" +1 Add to that all the other outdoor options in the immediate area- great fishing for other species when skis are closed for both summer and winter, good waterfowl grouse and woodcock, big deer, etc. I hope to be buying a house on a local lake in the next five years. Once that happens the leech cabin will be tough to pull off.

Posts: 779 | The first choice for me would be a chain of lakes. If I grew tired of one lake,I could always go fish in another. Second, the chain would have to have trophy potential instead of 30-40inch fish. And last,I would hope it would not see to much pressure, so with that said I would want to be on the Cisco chain on the Wisconsin/Michigan border. Shallow weedy lakes for early season and deep clear lakes, such as Thousand Island in the fall! Kdawg

Absolutely. That went into my thought process here. It's not ALL about muskie fishing. Good muskie lakes very close by, quality panfishing, very good walleye fisheries, top notch trout streams, one heck of a wild raspberry patch on the property.....not another place in sight. No thanks to having a cabin on the water. If it was the only cabin on a lake then maybe but places I've stayed that were right on the water are not all they were cracked up to be. Crowded in by places on either side. Too much activity and much less privacy. I'll take being tucked away in a woods on a seldom traveled road before dealing with people who you'll annoy because you had your fire going past 11pm. Simply love having it where if only one vehicle drives past in a day you are wondering why there is so much traffic.

Knew the guy that owned that island for awhile, and he let us stay for a week here and there. Neat spot. Then he bought a resort. Bad move... Ended up selling it all... I guess they split it up into 3 parcels now. Edited by Reef Hawg 6/18/2013 10:39 PM
