I can't seem to figure out a good way to work them without my leader getting fouled on the front treble. I'm using a steel leader by the way. Should I use fluoro? I love phantoms, should I work it like that?

How long of a pause are you doing with them? I use flouro and sometimes it'll loop under and foul on the hooks. I use the Hang 10 model.

Also using a hang 10. I like that on the pause it hangs way out but fouls a lot. Do you walk the dog subsurface or twitch pause?

If your leader has a swivel on it take it off.

That's how I run all my gliders but didn't remove it for the manta. It's off now, we'll see.

You didn't mention the length of leader, but if it's around a foot you might try a 9" length.

10" steel. Would a hybrid leader work well? That is, 36" of fluoro to a 4" steel leader.

I think Paul has a few good videos on his website too. Check them out and try to mimic what they are doing for line slack. I reel, snap, reel, snap and don't leave a lot of line out when I work a Manta.

Good video from "Lures in Action" too:

Just watched the video you recommended, I think I have been working them too slow. Thanks for the link!

I used a 130lb flouro last yr with a manta and learned a quick hard lesson when a big fish opened her mouth and ate it along with half the leader, cut it right off!
