Posts: 89 | We've stayed in Virginia every year the evening before we cross the border. Looking for something close to a bar-fish fry. Taking the inlaws up so we wanted to have a relaxing Friday night with a few beers and a fish fry without having to drive to far. Prefer between Virginia and international falls. Thanks, i'm getting pumped! ![]()

Posts: 173 | AmericInn in Virginia is located right next to the Sawmill which is a good place to get dinner in Virginia. I've never had friday night fish there so I can't comment on that part of it.

Posts: 462 Location: Syracuse, Indiana | There is a lodge in Orr with a good pool for the kids and decent restaurant with fried walleye on the menu, but pricey (it was an Americinn - not certain of the name now). The Eveleth Super 8 is clean, but I'm not sure about nearby restaurants. We typically stay in IFalls (this year we'll be at the America's Best Inn), but I have yet to find a really good dining choice in that town. I've thought about crossing the border and staying in Fort Frances, but have yet to do any real research.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Have stayed in Ft Frances several times....it's great to get the border crossing out of the way and there are a few places to grab some adult beverages. But the dining options are limited with poor quality

Posts: 89 | well maybe we'll wing it for dining, and stay in international falls. i'm sure we can find a place to have a couple drinks and unwind. we do like Virginia americinn and the sawmill. we just thought getting a little closer so we would only have 3-4 hrs for saturday morning driving. thanks and appreciate feedback!

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | There's a place in International Falls...Think it's called the Spot Supper Club Firehouse...it's not 5 star dining but they have respectable food/drinks for a northwoods town. I don't know about a fish fry but they have an interesting steak n Ribs combo which is kinda cool

Posts: 152 | Another vote for international falls. Plenty of places to stay, eat and drink. Also, there are plenty of "touristy" things for the family to do if the whole family is along with. I have never entered Canada in a spot other than Int'l Falls, so I cannot comment on other border towns.

Posts: 89 | thanks for the input, I think it will be international falls. Only having 3 hours for Saturday morning sounds good. 7 weeks and counting! I do like the Virginia area, but i'll love a shorter drive to EAGLE!
