I have an older Suick that has caught several fish and on its most recent catch the middle hook and metal piece that holds the split ring and hook fell out. I was curious if anyone has ever attempted to fix that or do you just end up buying a new lure?

I put the metal pin back in place and bent it back into the top of the suick but i doubt its strength/integrity. My fear is that if used again I would not only lose the fish that bites but potentially kill it by leaving a hook in him/her.

Let me know if any of you have had this problem and how you have fixed it...

Never tried it but how bout drilling out the bad spot and replacing it with a pine dowel epoxied in? Then drill a hole through the dowel and replace the cotter key.

If you have doubts about the lure holding up to another fish I'd just get another one. You said you've caught several fish on it so it's done the job intended and the cost of replacing a Suick is probably less than an awful lot of "one fish" lures.
