Location: Wausau, WI | I need to mount a kicker bracket to the transom of my Alumacraft jon boat because the mounting area of the transom is not wide enough for my main motor and 5 HP kicker. The problem is I can only get at 2 of the 4 bolts from inside the boat to secure the nuts. The other two will be under the back deck with no access from the inside.
Any ideas on how to secure the other 2 bolts to the transom? Would a bolt anchor similar to the type used in concrete grip enough to hold in the aluminum transom?
Any thoughts?

| There is wood inside the transom's aluminum skin, most likely. But I don't think I'd trust lag bolts to hold that kicker. You may have to remove some decking, but you should be able to get back to there to put nuts and washers on. I'd exhaust all efforts to do it this way.
Make sure you use marine silicone liberally in any holes you make to seal the transom. |

Location: Wausau, WI | Surprisingly there is no wood in the transom, just double wall aluminum. I'll probably end up doing what you suggested but was hoping there may be an easier way with some type of anchor.

| Sorry, I didn't notice the jon boat part. Just aluminum would be correct. 5 HP motor doesn't weigh a whole lot, and the boat is probably not going to be in really rough stuff, so maybe the top two bolts will be enough? Trailering will probably be the biggest abuse the kicker will see.
I wonder if you could get a blindnut to go through both pieces of aluminum. Check your local Grainger or Fastenal. I think that would work.
