Posts: 14 | I have an abu 7000i that I've paired with a 7' ugly stick tiger. It's a very beefy medium heavy rod. I use it for big blue catfish. I've been doing a lot of reading about muskie fishing, and it seems big buck tails are very popular. Would this set up work well for casting them? Or would something else be recommended?

Posts: 14 | Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive rod? I was looking at mojo muskies from st. croix, but those retail at about 160 I think which is a little out of my current price range. If going any cheaper is a bad idea then I can wait and save up, but I'm all about saving a little money. I know when it comes time to stock up on lures I'll end up breaking the bank.

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | You could buy a ti rod allot of people like them I don't. but they are cheap I think you can pick one up for 120 bucks. my first musky rod was a Haden musky spectral I think it was 5 footer.I casted every thing with it. now im older and have better rods. use what you have see what you like a bought it and what you don't then buy a better rod.

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | buy 5 baits and spend your money on the reel first, rod second. spending a bunch on baits and having bad equipment is typical in the sport and unproductive.
