I'm vasilating (something I do very well) about what rain suit to get. I think I want Cabela's guidewear which is over $400 but I don't want to part with the $400. Cabela's signature series "Dry Plus" rain wear looks nice but its not Gortex, if that even matters, and is about $180 cheaper. To make matters more confusing, Bass Pro has their Gortex Xtreme on sale for 35% off which is about $170 cheaper then the guidewear.

Anybody have any experience with the BPS Xtreme or Cabela's Signature Series stuff?

Thanks.

Lunchbox
If your near a cabelas a couple times a year they have tent sales,,one tent is returned merchadise and the other is discontinued,,last year I got a set of returned hardly used guide wear bibs and jacket for $65,and that wasnt a one time item their were other returned guidewear sets for the same price,,also at the discontinued tent brand new with the tags still on sets of guidewear perfectly good but in discontinued colors went for $180,,Im talking about the same guidewear suits that go for $400 in the catalog,,checkout your nearest cabelas or we have one here in Minnesota but I think the next sale is in june. if you want I could pick you up a set I know your good for the money having met you at the swap,,the returned ones are the best deal,,try calling a cabelas near you yo see when their will be one,, we had people from Tennesee drive up and camp in the lot at cabelas two days early just so they could be one of the first people in line

I went to the Gurnee BPS Saturday to get the XPS. I came home with the 100 MPH stuff. ALL, and I mean all the XPS was gone by the time I got there. I was offered the same discount on the 100 MPH so that is what I eneded up with. $70 off on the Jacket, $60 on the Bibs. I got Red. There wasn't a whole lot left, except in the bright mustard color. They offered rain checks on the 100 MPH to some other guys that couldn't find there size. I was told the XPS is being discontinued.

That's my report, and I'm sticking to it.

I have the BPS stuff too. I paid 2 bills for mine, top and bottom, great stuff, one of the best investments I have made.

I've owned the Gore Tex Rip Stop a couple of years, good raingear, and decided to jump up to the 100mph suit and glad I did. I had the same experience of getting the 100mph because the store was out of xps and gave me the choice of the other. I've been out in bad weather already and am very happy with the decision I made. Hope this helps.....

I have had the Cabela's Guide Wear for 7 years now and it performs as well as it did when it was new. []
Never tried the BPS rainwear but I would bet that it is high quality. One of my fishing partners has the 10x and has been extremly happy with those as well. If I could get a deal on the Guide Wear thats the direction I would go.

Luke,

What suit did you get???? Does anyone know if BPS has a sale on the 100mph suits yet? When do they normally go on sale?

Thanks

Doc

I ended up getting both the Guide Wear and the 100mph suits. The Guide Wear was too skinny for even my scrawning body so I returned it and kept the BPS 100mph suit. I got one size too big so I could layer under it. In the heat of summer with no layers under it I look like I'm swimming in it a little. In the spring and fall when its cold and raining its awful nice to be able to put a few layers on under it. I was comfortable in it down to about 30 degrees by wearing a layer of good long underwear, a layer of fleece and a thinsulate jacket under it.
