I took out a lady bass/walleye fisherwoman.
She caught her first muskie (we have created a monster!) plus a nice bass on a 4" deep diver rattlin' Slammer Crankbait.
The genuine enthusiasm of a "new-bee" is so great to be part of!

When out of course at the crack of noon with the kids. Nothing on Pewaukee but a heck of a mud line from the Saturday night storm. I talked to a couple of guy's coming off at Smokies who were trolling and caught a mid-thirty's fish in 25ft of water on a Slamer.

We were in Ohio at the Cabeals NWT out of Port Clinton. No fishing for us last weekend.

We had our Consolidated Musky Club outing up in the Minoqua area over the weekend. While we only had 11 participants, there were a few fish caught. There were 9 Muskies boated, with 46" being the biggest. My partner and I had 4 fish to 43" for a fairly decent weekend by our 'up north' standards. Nice to see the water up and moving in the rivers and creeks. Mosquitoes were as bad as I've ever seen them in the Mercer area. Thanks Brad Nelson for the nice acomodations. The pizza and service at Heart II was excellent as they hosted our awards on sunday afternoon. Very nice addition they put on.

Did anyone camp at Crystal, Muskellunge or Clear lakes this past weekend? My plan was to take the wife and kids back up for the next couple days, but I refuse with the skeeters as bad as they were. Wondered if they'd be a bit less severe in the higher ground areas. Never thought I'd plan a camping trip around the bugs, but they were simply that bad in certain areas. Talked to a couple people in their 70's and 80's and they had never seen them this bad. Kind of nice though, as it means there is some moisture for a change and it kept alot of people away from where we were fishing..

Jason it appears they are bad no matter where you go. We camped on Franklin Lake this past weekend and they were terrible. I had to stop at the cabin near Phelps Sat to get something I left there a few weeks back, and they were just as bad there midday. We'll just have to suck it up.

Way to go Cory! That's a good way to start your season.

We need the dragon fly hatch to get going, that should knock back the mosquitoes a bit. never have seen them as bad here, nearly have to wear rain gear to be out in the yard unless soaked in repellant.

skeets are pretty crazy everywhere. i just saw the first wave of dragonfly hatch saturday but they will have their work cut out for them! good year to be a bat.

i fished hard tuesday to thursday last week reintroducing my boys to the game during the transition from 65 - 70 deg. water on a lake you guys may know. we had fish coming out of new weeds on manta's, hardheads and lee's choppers but not committing and then thursday the high winds (northeast) shut things down with the exception of one good eater my son lost at the boat. i wanted to stay on the water through the weekend BAD ... but fished crappies for some family time instead.

i heard of a 52" caught locally and other guys starting to get their numbers up this weekend. i would imagine if you were able to win against the storms that you would have done well, but they had a lot of lightning ... enough for me to get off fast. major storms rolled through saturday night and again throughout the afternoon yesterday. should be a good week ahead. some nice weeds out there and weed-lines are tighter and cleaner than normal this time of year.

Took my little sister out in the dark, after a 2 minute crash-course on how to use a baitcaster. A couple hours into casting, and she lands her first muskie. Beautiful, fat 50"er from a smaller inland lake. I couldn't be a more proud big brother! And, she gets it on topwater no less.

And yes, I know. The pic sucks. She snapped about 50 pics of the fish in the net with my phone, so by the time I had showed her how to handle the fish, my battery was about dead, and couldn't use the flash. The only light was my headlamp. *Sigh*

The better half and I stayed at Indian Mounds this weekend and the mosquitos were bad there as well.

I managed 2 sub 40's on a small lake and only put the boat in on Tomahawk to take her for a ride. Both fish I got right before the storm Saturday night. What a display of lightning that was!!!

I got 4 smaller muskies in Vilas County. Most the fish came on twitch baits. Had a couple up on gliders and a few blow ups on a topraider as well.

I had a hell of a day on Friday. Burning 10's over the weeds. 38", 40", and 42". Missed two other mid 40's fish, and a ton of follows.

My wife and I fished from noon-8pm. Fast and furious action from 6-6:40. Ended up contacting 4 pike and 1 musky. Only 2 pike made it in the boat (shook the others off). Musky was mid-30's, and rolled off. All the action came just before and through a little pocket storm. Nothing after the front and storm went through.

Fished Sunday afternoon for a little bit on a local lake. Pretty slow for us. Only saw one musky in the 42-43" range just passing by.

Fished Thursday - Sunday in Three Lakes for the WMTS Guerdon Open. Between Thursday and Friday we caught 6 fish pre-fishing and pulled baits away from a couple others. On Saturday at tourney time we lost the 43/44" piglet I pulled the bait away from the day before spot on the spot as she short nipped it was barely hooked in the flesh of her beak. 20 minutes later my partner stuck a 32" short, as well as a 40.25" on Saturday for 5th place overall. We bombed on Sunday with two swing and misses. Super tough conditions out there under the blazing sun and with little wind until 10 a.m. or so... I was getting a tan at 5:45 a.m. Sunday!

Tourney Partner > James Formolo, Pre-Fishing 34"

Fished 15 hours Saturday with a friend boating a 39" and we had a couple follows. Got out Sunday evening after taking my son for his first round of golf and popped this 43" on blades. Had action from two others shortly after too, one plowed up a pacemaker and the other hit in the 8 but no hooks.
