Location: Minnesota | I would like to thank the folks at the West Metro fisheries office for allowing me to come with them on Tuesday to help collect Muskie eggs to future stocking efforts. Below are pictures of the milt taking process from the males, the removal of eggs from the females, the fertilization process and the holding pens we kept the rest of the muskies.
In total we collected 11 males and 4 females, but we we're only able to collect eggs from one female and milt from two males. About 30,000 eggs we're fertilized, and sent to the st. Paul fish hatchery.
The first muskie is the female that we took eggs from. We took the picture after we collected her eggs.
The last picture is from last Saturday on Lake Waconia. while sampling for Walleye we managed to get 3 adult muskies and one fingerling from the last stocking.
