We held our annual Consolidated Musky Club outing on Saturday, south of 10(members could fish anywhere). Everyone was met with a late spring, 49 degree water. It was the poorest showing for fish captures/sightings since we began this outing about 7 years ago. With that said, after a bit of rain in the morning, it was a nice day. My partner and I fished Muskies for about 3 hours in the morning, before he decided to try for White Bass/Walleye's and got a 32"ish Musky on his 1.5" crankbait. He switched back to Muskies for a spell, then picked up his spinning outfit again, catching a walleye and a smallie. About 10 minutes later Ole' said 'I'm hooked up', and I saw his rod doubled. Luckily she was lethargic enough to not make any crazy runs, and it only took 10 minutes to land her. 45.5". He ended up with the winning fish. Another member got a 42" Musky for 2nd place.

Very nice...the old "reverse psychology" move!

"I'm not fishing for muskies... Fish ON!"

Seems to work more often than not in the Spring.

Fished Pewaukee Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning. Saturday brought me 3 follows all mid 30's fish. Did manage one pike. Sunday stuck a 43 and raised two other good fish. Had the kiddos with and they had a blast!!

Fished Madison lake chain Sat/Sun. Fished from 5am - 2pm on Saturday. Nothing all morning. Had a lazy follow from a nice mid-forties fish in Turville Bay. Thought things were going to heat up with the front coming in quick, and it did, for bass and northern. Caught several nice bass and northern right before and again right after the rain showers that pushed through. Sunday fished Wingra. Had a lost hook-up on a grim reaper spinner bait with 3 orange blades slow rolling on the weed edges and later caught a 22 in LMB. No musky netted in my boat this weekend.

What were people using that did have luck netting one this weekend? I expect the patterns to change quite a bit over the next week with consistent 70 degree temps in South WI.

Fished Pewaukee Sat & Sunday. Had nothing going on, stopped by Smokie's and they said fish shallow. Got a 34-1/2" on Sat and 38-1/2" Sunday on glider. Fish were clean.

I got 2 while fishing for bait, aka walleye. Both came on a 1/16 oz jig with a small minnow. They were 32 and 26 inches.Pretty fun on 6 pound test line, both were released so I can catch them another day.

Lucky you johnnysled for being out on saltwater!
Why would you ever fish fresh water if you had regular access to saltwater?
I can't wait for WahooFirst.com to be up an running......I'm sure Mr. Worrall is working on it!

Im not 100% sure all the lakes will be open by this weekend up in Vilas. Some dudes were still driving Atv's out on Sunday. Warm weather will help, but the long term forecast includes the possibility of snow again by the weekend. Lows in the mid to upper 20's.

We were on an Oneida County lake tonight, and the ice had obviously just busted off. A good section was full of ice floes, and there was weeds and trash everywhere. Fishing wasn't real good either...

Sled, can we assume you didn't pinch the tail when you were measuring that wahoo? So you could speculate that it could have been longer, but with no tail to pinch I think any measurement is invalid due to the "bitten off tail" (if that's not a fish story too)

Back at it after work tomorrow... Ribs still bruised from opening days adventure. Sounds like some nice fish were caught over the weekend. I wish I had gotten out on Sunday, but a happy wife is a happy home.

Had 4 follows down here in Iowa last Saturday two of which were actually strikes that missed the hooks. Had a lot of fun and definitely gaining more confidence in what I am doing now that I am seeing some fish.

No closed season down here in IL but it was still the first day on the water for me. NE winds had me a little concerned Sunday but it worked out alright. Water temps were 60 and we put three males in the boat. A 38 and two 39's. Two were really beat up from the spawn the other pretty clean. Just nice to be on the water again (been since september for me...)
