![]() | I want to raise the floor of my.boat to even with the rod lockers on the side to make it easier to have a 3rd guy fishing in my boat. It will be raised about 8" the whole area is 81" long by 48" wide by 8" tall. What would be the best way to do it with supports and everything? Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 1168 | Do you want to do the entire thing or are you leaving it unraised in front of the seats so you have leg room? A few years back I made up two removable deck inserts to accomplish pretty much the same task. Just simple 3/4 inch ply wood screwed onto a wooden frame made up of 2x2 material. Going to redo those at some point this year but instead of duplicating what I have the plan is to make 4-5 different inserts/removable deck pieces so that they can be moved around and allow me to fill that whole tub area in except for the area by the console. I did not like the idea of making a permanent deck extension because of the needed flexibility. Even though I didn't carpet what I have and it might seem crude, anyone who has fished out of my boat with those pieces in there have raved about it. I believe TJ Devoe was with me the first time they were used. So you don't have to over think this type of a project. I'd suggest coming up with something that offers you flexibility and doesn't back you in a corner. Having huge deck space is wonderful but it's not user friendly if you pile a bunch of people in your boat and go bullhead, sucker, whitebass etc. fishing or if you are taking a few folks out just for fun.

![]() | I was gonna make the front where the feet go hinged to be able to put storage and your feet. Well I don't take out but 3 people max fishing at a time. So being permanent isn't a big deal cuz all we do is musky fish. With the 2x2 stilts how far apart would they be spaced out? Like every foot or is that overkill?

Posts: 1168 | That's overkill. This is about the best picture I have that shows the simplicity of mine to give you an idea. Where the guys are kneeling you can see the wood "boxes" as I call them and notice that they are in two pieces. They are almost perfectly square and slide into the tub on mine which is a '99 Lund Mr. Pike. I only have a piece of 2x2 on each corner of those platforms for 4 total. I did put diagonal support pieces in to sturdy them up a little bit but that wasn't to support weight, it was to hold the legs in place so that if something bumped against them they wouldn't get out of whack.
