Location: New Jersey | I am glad I have 2 engines (so I can have multiple problems!)
Anyway, you guys helped me out on the other issue, so I figure I will post another question.
2003 Johnson 50 4 stroke goes up perfectly, occasionally (1 out of 10) I will hit the tilt/trim and I will hear just a click and she will not move. I had the switch replaced last year but that obviously wasn't the problem. I doesn't matter if I hit the tilt/trim button on the engine, on the throttle or up front at the casting deck. When she doesn't want to go down, she wont.
I read somewhere online that I could be the tilt/trim sensor being dirty. I don't know where that is and quite frankly......there is an excellent chance its dirty.
Just trying to be proactive on this one, as I know one day it will not be intermittent.
thanks, Rob

Location: Hayward, WI | Need to see if it is getting power to the trim motor when this happens, if it is then could have sticking brushes in trim motor. If not getting power to trim motor then solenoid/relay is bad. |
