I'm replacing the Piranahmax 170 that came with my dad's boat with the 597 ci HD Combo. If I've read the specs right both of them have 200 kHz / 20° @ -10db and 83 kHz / 60° @ -10db listed for sonar. Does this mean I can use the Piranahmax transducer and save myself from having to rerun wiring?

I wouldn't. I would definitely use the new transducer for the new unit.
