In July I was fortunate enough to catch a 52" muskie on LOTW. I am considering a replica mount and am curious on other's experience. I am familiar with LAX and Fittante from their booths at the winter muskie shows, but never paid too much attention. I don't want to travel to each's site to look at their stuff nor do I want to wait until show season to get one started.

Does anyone have a preference - Fittante vs. LAX?

Other suggestions?

Where are you located? Possibly hook up with someone nearby to view their replica(s).

I've got fish from both guys, they both do tremendous work. I personally like the Fittante mounts I have a little better, but that is certainly not to say I do not like the job Lax does. Don't be too impatient though, make sure you know exaxtly who you want to do it, the pose, and any other details. You will most likely have this the rest of your life, and they aren't cheap, so make sure you do some research and get what you want.

I remember seeing somebody who makes them out of a flexible material (silicone maybe??). I think it would resemble a lifelike fish if you were to pick it up and that would be cool but how often would you pick it up....

You would trust the highly subjective opinions here more than your own eyes?

Investigate the product each offers.

I have a couple of Lax's reproductions, and he nailed it exactly each time.

And here we go again. Someone just has to bash one or the other and start a babysitting project for the moderators.

Both are great artists. Take a look at each and make your decision.
